Pacinian Corpuscle
The patch of skin in figure 1 is stained with hematoxylin and eosin and contains a cluster of Pacinian corpuscles deep within the subcutaneous core.
Figure 2 is at a higher power to better visualize the organization of the Pacinian corpuscle lamellar cells. Notice how the lamellar cells appear to form concentric rings around a small solid central core. The outer lamellar cells are normally fluid-filled. In the center of the Pacinian corpuscle, the inner core of lamellar cells encircles a single 1° afferent terminal fiber.
