The Department has a graphics design facility staffed by a full-time photographer/illustrator. The facility is equipped with 2 Apple G4 computers with a 22" color monitors. There is a Kodak digital camera and a color scanner (Epson) with transparency adapter for acquiring images and several programs (Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop,etc) for image editing and enhancement. The facility also has several illustration and graphics software to create various media needed for posters, papers and scientific presentations. The computer system has multiple backup systems for archiving purposes. Image output is through an HP Laser printer, or an Epson Stylus Pro color printer, or into slides by the Lasergraphics Personal LFR Plus film recorder.

The graphics facility is equipped with a Polaroid copy stand and Beseler slide duplicator for reproduction of art work and slides, as well as 35 mm and 4"x5" format cameras for photography.
