Cellular and Molecular Neuroscience Track

The Cellular and Molecular track within the Neuroscience Program is focused on theoretical and experimental aspects of cellular and molecular neuroscience that integrate biochemistry, physiology, cell, and molecular biology. This track provides training emphasizing cellular and molecular aspects of synapse formation and plasticity; structure, regulation, and trafficking of membrane proteins; signal transduction; neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders; and neuronal development including injury/repair and neuronal tumors.

Requirements

In addition to completing the core requirements of the Neuroscience Program, the Cellular and Molecular track student is required to complete the following courses:

Elective courses from the GSBS curriculum as well as from Baylor College of Medicine, Rice University and University of Houston can be taken. Each student’s complete course schedule will be determined in consultation with their individual mentors, their advisory committee, and with the graduate advisor for the track, Andrew Bean.
