Neurobiology and Anatomy > About The Department
The Department of Neurobiology and Anatomy at the The University of Texas Medical School at Houston is one of the largest neuroscience departments in North America. The Department's missions include:
- Biomedical Research in Anatomy/Neuroanatomy, Biophysics/Electrophysiology, Computational Neuroscience, Learning and Memory, Molecular Neurobiology, Neuropharmacology/Neurochemistry, Neuronal Circuits, Primate Neurobiology, Synaptic/Cellular Plasticity and Vision;
- Medical and Graduate courses in Neuroscience, Gross Anatomy and Developmental Anatomy, as well as certain dental courses.
- Several advanced Graduate Courses in Neuroscience;
- Training programs for Undergraduate and Graduate students and Postdoctoral Fellows;
- Management of the Neuroscience Research Center and the W.M. Keck Center for the Neurobiology of Learning and Memory;
- Management of the UTH Medical School's Willed Body Program and Human Structure Facility, which provide anatomical services to the University as well as several neighboring TMC institutions; and
- Operation and management of several of the UTH Medical School's Core Research Facilities, including its Computational Neuroscience Core Facility, Electron Microscopy Facility, Multiphoton Confocal Microscopy Facility, and its Molecular Neurobiology Core Facility
